The Overview

By Designers, For Designers

Description

Dots + Pixels is an online gathering place for digital inkjet designers, graphic artists and print professionals to get inspired, learn best practices for high-quality print and showcase their work. While the website has garnered a robust online following, Dots + Pixels wanted to create a functional print piece that demonstrates the stunning print and color quality of digital inkjet, serving as a physical point of inspiration to fuel design and print creativity.

The Details

A Blank Canvas for Organization and Inspiration

Description

A 12-month calendar not only allowed for a high level of creative freedom in terms of the color palette and design concept, it also proved to be an incredibly functional piece for designers and printers in terms of helping them organize their deadlines and ideas. Taking a more abstract approach to color and design elements, the calendar aligns with the Dot + Pixels branding, but it also pushes the envelope of the website’s look and feel, creating a one-of-a-kind print piece. The blank spaces on each month for notes and doodles make the calendar extremely handy, and the detachable nature of each sheet makes it easy to save ideas long after the calendar pages turn.

A Year-Long Showpiece

Description

The brilliant color quality of the Dots + Pixels 12-month calendar appeals to graphic artists and printers alike as a shining example of what can be achieved with digital inkjet. Accent® Opaque paper provides superior color definition and printability, helping to make the calendar a year-long showpiece. Fireball Printing was responsible for producing the Dots + Pixels calendar, and Fireball co-owner Paul Yavarone, Jr. says calendars that blend the artful with the functional are making a big comeback.

“You wouldn’t think people would get so excited about a calendar, but then you see the content and the art people do and it makes these kinds of prints so cool. It’s fun to be a part of something that feels less disposable, something that feels like it will be around for a while.”  —  Paul Yavarone, Jr., Fireball Printing
